1/35 KV-2 captured by German forces

At the beginning of 1940 the Russians produced a real monster with the KV-1 chassis as base, with a giant turret which holds the 152mm M-10 howitzer. Until October 1942 there were 334 of these, 52t weighting, tanks produced. Because of the heavy turret armor it was not easy to knock out this coloss, on the other hand it was hard for the crew to rotate that heavy turret, with inclined chassis it was nearly impossible. The combat value of this tank is doubtful. The diesel engine V-2k gave 600 hp to achieve a maximum speed of 34 km/h. There was a crew of 6 men, which had 3 DT machine guns besides the main gun. Some of the KV-tanks received the "light type" track which had guide teeth only on every second link.

The Germans captured some of the KV-2 and modified the with German accessories (commanders cupola, lighting, etc) and used them in special companies, like the Pz.Abt.66 for the invasion of Malta.

Tamiya kit with some upgrades was used for the model.

1/35 Pz. Kpfw. III Ausf. D (part 1)

Today I decided to show the model of Pz. Kpfw. III Ausf. D built by Accord that I recently got to my collection
The model was built as tank of SS division "NORD" - 1942. Miniart kit was used as a base, also cables from Evrika was added.

Some historical notes about  Pz. Kpfw. III Ausf. D series.
Order for 3b./Z.W. Series was pushed in parallel with order for 3a./Z.W. Series, by this reason there are no differences for both series in some documents. Tanks of Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.D modification got serial numbers in range 60316–60340. All tanks of the third series was finally finished by the end of November 1938. But manufacturing of Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.D was not over, because the order for 4 additional Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.B. continued to be listed at Daimler-Benz. The order was reissued to 5 additional Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.D with serial numbers in range 60221–60225. Order fulfillment was delayed for several reasons and the tanks was finished only in October 1940. As result the latest 5 tanks got towers from Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.B.
The tanks were used firstly in Norway and than in Finland.

Some original photos of the tank that was used as prototype for the model.
